Board Sizing
Here are some guidlines to help you customize and get the best fit
for your board.
Beginner and Advanced Boards–What’s the diff?
It’s not so much that there are beginner and advanced rider
snowboards, it’s what you are going to use the board for.
Are you going to be carving up the backcountry or riding bowls in
a park? What you want is a snowboard that fits you, your height
and weight. Also keep in mind the way a board will feel when you
ride it. If a board has more flex, it will be easier to initiate
turns but will ride sloppier at higher speeds. A board that is stiffer
is more stable at faster speeds and conversely takes more effort
to turn. If your new to the game, you might want to consider a board
with a little more flex.

Your Weight
Your weight is crucial in determining board size. Heaveir riders
on short boards will suffer poor performance at high speeds. If
a snowboard is too long for a lighter rider, they find it more difficult
to control.
Snowboard Length
The most commonly asked question is “What length snowboard
should I get?” Generally, if your going to be riding
in powder, a longer board will give you greater control and faster
speeds. Street influenced or freestyle riders generally opt for
a shorter snowboard. Shorter boards are better for freestyle and
beginners because they are easier to maneuver.
Most snowboarders buy a snowboard that is 88% of their height. So
if your not sure what to do, use this formula when deciding on which
board to get.
Your Height (inches) x 2.54 (converts to cm) x 0.88 = Board
Length (cm)
or
The snowboard should fall in somewhere between your collar bone
and your eyes.

Board Waist Width
The waist width is the thinest part of the board, located between
your bindings. As a general rule, you want a waist width that is
nearly the same size as your boot. Too narrow of a waist width will
cause heel and toe drag, which will slow you down. Too wide of a
waist width and you will have a hard time getting on edge to initiate
turns.

Boy or Girl?
Since women have a lower center of gravity and are generally shorter
than guys, snowboard manufacturers have created boards specifically
for the ladies. They should look for these boards when considering
what to purchase.
Powder or Hard Pack?
Board length, again. Riding on powder or groomed snow, you might
want a slightly longer board. Gonna be keeping to the park or are
new, something on the middle to shorter end will make the ride easier.
